Lack of insulation for the windows
You will need to have the windows replaced if you notice they no longer are fully insulated. When the windows feel exceptionally cold in the winter, it is a sign that they are not longer functioning as well as they should be. Poorly insulated windows can put extra pressure on your HVAC system. This can result in costing you more money each month by heating your home.
Issues with the Window Trim
If there is an issue with the window trim, new windows should be considered. If the window trim is rotting, cracking, or missing, make sure to have it inspected as soon as possible. This is usually a sign of water damage. Soft window frames will rot or the cracks can lead to mold growth. Also, peeling paint is another sign of moisture and leak problems. Over exposure to ultra violet rays or extreme temperature changes may mean that your windows need to be replaced.
Windows that stick or will not stay open
If a window sticks or will not stay open or closed, there is an issue that should be looked at. If it cannot stay open with out propping it up, it is a sign that the pressure on the window is changing. This means that the window will no longer fit perfectly as it once did. It will also not be as efficient as it should be.
Any Drafts you might notice
If moisture is blowing in through any cracks or gaps, it could mean mold growth might be present. Drafts can also mean damage to the carpet or furniture, rotting window frames, and higher heating costs. You can place your hand around the window to feel for any drafts. We can also inspect the windows for you to make sure they are draft free. If there are any drafts, the most economical choice is to have the windows replaced.
Moisture on the windows
You may need new windows if you notice they are cloudy between the panes of them. Most windows are double pane or triple panes. These panes are designed to keep moisture out. When frost or ice becomes present on the windows in the winter, it could mean that it is a sign that condensation has built up inside the panes. If you notice this, you should consider replacing the windows.
